Watermen's Museum

The Chesapeake museum about the people, not the battles

Watermen's Museum

Wooden workboats, handmade decoys, oyster tongs, crab pots and nets: the tools of the fishermen, crabbers, oystermen and boatbuilders who read the Chesapeake for a living rather than fought over it. The detail that lands it is architectural — the windows look out on the York River, where commercial boats are still working the same water. Boatbuilding demonstrations run outside, by people who do it.
