A solar corona is normally pearl white. Rui Santos shot totality from Benavente, Spain on 12 August with the sun near the horizon, so its light had already crossed a great deal of air — and smoke from nearby forest fires scattered out whatever blue survived that. One thing refused to turn: a hydrogen prominence off the left edge, still its original bright pink.
