The 2027 Eclipse at Luxor

Six minutes and twenty-three seconds, and then not again until 2114

The 2027 Eclipse at Luxor

Most total eclipses hand you two or three minutes; the celebrated 2024 one managed four and a half at its best. Near Luxor on 2 August 2027 the shadow sits for six minutes and twenty-three seconds, the longest available on easily reachable land until 2114, under an August sky with cloud probability somewhere between one and twenty percent. One planning trap, stated plainly: Cairo is not in the path.
