Erosion left this 1,650-tonne Atlantic Wall shelter overhanging the beach at Sainte-Marguerite-sur-Mer, and in April 1995 the Dieppe fire brigade washed the ground out from under it with hoses. It landed on end in the shingle and leans there still. Agnès Varda and JR pasted a photo mural across it for Visages Villages in 2017; it lasted exactly one tide. Walk the foreshore on the ebb — the cliff cannot be climbed.
