Best Made’s Sailor’s Knife pairs new German steel with old, salvaged wood: the handle is Cumarú (Brazilian teak) pulled from the bottom of the Panama Canal after roughly a century submerged, denser and harder for the soak. The blade itself is unrelated to that history — a modern niobium-alloyed stainless (the Niolox family) ground convex by Robert Herder, the Solingen workshop that’s made knives under the windmill mark since 1872.
