The dial is a skyline: five towers with sharpened tops, a sunburst behind them, nothing printed. It is a hand-wound titanium dress watch, limited to 100 pieces at $1,810.
Echo/Neutra’s Rivanera is a slim rectangular dress watch from an Italian brand. For this edition, made with Worn & Wound, the dial stops being a dial in the usual sense. Five tall forms, each split into two brushed facets, stand against a soleil-textured burst, a tribute to early twentieth-century visions of the future: Art Deco cities of impossible scale. The shop’s phrase for it is a composition in metal.
The restraint is what makes it work. The only printed element is the echo/neutra logo, which sits on the underside of the crystal, and the hands are plain black. Down at six, a small spiral-engraved subdial carries its own hand.
The case is bead-blasted grade 5 titanium in dark matte gray, 27mm wide, about 40mm lug to lug and 5.9mm thick, with mirror-polished channels along the upper edge of each side. Inside is an ETA/Peseux 7001, a hand-wound movement with 17 jewels and around 40 hours of reserve, finished with Côtes de Genève and blued screws, visible through a display caseback. It comes on shell cordovan leather and rubber straps.
The limits are plain. It is $1,810; the standard Rivanera lists at €1,490 on the brand’s own site. Only 100 exist. It is rated to 30m, so it is a dress watch in fact as well as name, and black hands over a busy textured dial will not be the quickest read.
When we checked, Worn & Wound’s Wind Up shop listed it as ready to ship, while echo/neutra’s own store showed it sold out.
