The Reydon WW1 Pillbox

A vandalized WW1 bunker near Southwold, being rebuilt block by cast replica block

The Reydon WW1 Pillbox

Fewer than 100 First World War pillboxes survive in Britain, and this one near Southwold was almost lost twice: decades of vandalism scattered its concrete blocks into the creek beside it, and by 2023 it was slated for demolition. The parish council raised funds instead, casting replica blocks to patch the gaps and rebuilding the walls on new foundations. Restoration finishes in spring 2027; visits are possible before then by arrangement.
