The newly opened Wolf Trail runs 2,171 miles from Poland’s Hel Peninsula on the Baltic to Trieste on the Adriatic, threading Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Slovenia along the way. Its seven sections climb a combined 257,270 feet — the equivalent of roughly nine Mount Everests — over forest paths, country roads, and existing Alpine routes. Thru-hikers are attempting it start to finish for the first time this year.
