Nik Arthur spent two years developing “Organima,” his term for animating directly onto macro photographs of stone, wood, water, and leaves rather than drawing on blank paper — so the material’s own cracks and grain dictate the movement. The five-minute film gives “an intelligent water droplet” and “spirits of sunlight” their own logic, narrated as a return to “seeing the world again through the eyes of my childhood.” It has played at Slamdance and Edinburgh.
