Tuam’s 1860 station lost its passengers in 1976 and its freight trains in 1993, then sat shut for decades — long enough that its wrought-iron lattice footbridge, platform canopies, and water tower are all still standing, untouched since the last train left. It’s one of the most complete abandoned railway stations left in Ireland. A long-discussed revival as part of the Western Rail Corridor hasn’t happened, so it waits.
