Nintendo sent a batch of cartridges to a precious-metal recovery service to have the gold pulled off the boards. They never got there. A grandfather kept them, a seller left them at a Waukesha retro store, and the box sat six years until Jason Ganos went through it: a previously unrecorded variant, dated 1993, of a bundle discontinued in 1991. Ninety-seven survived. Sixty graded 9.8, five graded a perfect 10.
