In 1975 the furniture store owner Harold Davisson buried a 45-ton concrete vault behind his shop in Seward, Nebraska, and packed it with five thousand-plus artifacts of mid-1970s American life — including a brand-new Chevrolet Vega he’d driven straight off the lot. The vault was unsealed on July 4, 2025, and the contents are now on display where they were buried — the Vega survived in zero-mileage condition. Pure roadside Americana now sitting at the intersection of US-34 and the Lincoln Highway, worth a detour for anyone driving I-80 across the plains.
