Round Barn Capital of the World

Fulton County, Indiana, where the round barns are still standing

Round Barn Capital of the World

Fulton County, Indiana once had 17 round barns, most built by C.V. Kindig’s family firm. When a 1989 tornado tore the roof off the 1924 Bert Leedy barn, the county historical society moved it and restored it as a museum. Wisconsin’s Vernon County had counted more, but in 1992 it answered a letter from Fulton by agreeing Fulton should keep the title.
