Rorid means dewy, straight from Latin roridus, itself from ros, dew. English has been sitting on it since 1425 without much use. The best sighting is Owen Meredith’s 1869 “Ode to a Starling”: “When auroral skies / With rorid azure bathe his rapturous wings” — dew turning the dawn sky itself into something a bird’s wings can be bathed in.
