Detroit’s mayor solicited suggestions for improving the city in 2011 and got one back: erect a RoboCop statue, because he would be a great ambassador. The idea went viral within days and the Kickstarter followed. Tippett Studio’s Mark Dubeau then tracked down Rob Bottin’s original 1987 screen armor, cast molds from it, and 3D-scanned the restoration to scale it up in bronze. Visitors keep leaving flowers in his open hand.
