Rimske Terme

A mineral spring in a Slovenian valley that Roman soldiers bathed in, still open

Rimske Terme

The mineral spring at Rimske Toplice has been bathed in since the Roman Empire, and the resort built around it keeps the evidence in plain sight: Latin phrases around the baths, and walking paths lined with trees donated by nineteenth-century visitors, among them a giant sequoia from Victoria of Prussia. The main pool runs from a quiet indoor hall out to a terrace facing the forested hills, and two smaller hot pools have jets. Bring a bottle for the spring itself.
