Most terminals are a corridor with retail. Hurghada’s Terminal 1 gives you the destination before you reach it: the underside of the roof ripples the length of the hall, shaped after the Red Sea outside and the desert behind it, and the glass walls leave the whole thing looking unmoored. It opened in late 2014 across roughly 92,600 square metres. You land in an arid nowhere and the sea is already overhead.
