Six words, usually credited to the Arizona congressman Mo Udall. Quote Investigator lands instead on Dick Tuck, the Democratic prankster, who told the Dick Cavett Show in 1969 that he had used the line conceding a California State Senate primary three years earlier. The catch is the good part: no record of it from 1966 survives, and Tuck was a documented fabulist — so he may have invented the concession along with the speech.
