“Never underestimate the determination of a kid who is time rich and cash poor.” Cory Doctorow wrote the line in Little Brother (2008), his novel about a San Francisco teenager outmaneuvering post-9/11 homeland-security surveillance — it’s on page 87, part of the story itself rather than a stray aphorism borrowed from an essay. It’s since traveled well beyond the book, recycled in his own DRM and hacking essays and passed around as generic advice, usually stripped of the source.
