Paint Chip Poetry

Four hundred paint-chip cards, and the poem is in the colour names

Paint Chip Poetry

The paint chips are the poem: 400 cards in hardware-store strips, each colour named the way paint companies name them — banana split, heartbeat, tip of the tongue, red velvet — plus 40 prompt cards (“far, far away”). Players draw a handful and rearrange the names into lines, which land anywhere between profound and ridiculous. Lea Redmond’s game has been in print since 2019, and is a more honest way to end writer’s block than stealing the chips from the hardware store. $23.95.
