Old Sagiada

A village abandoned in the war, with trees growing through the rooms

Old Sagiada

The old village above Sagiada emptied during the Second World War and was never rebuilt. Most walls are still standing, so the street plan reads clearly even with trees growing up through the rooms. The church came through largely intact, frescoes and all, and its bell still hangs outside. The view runs down to the sea; the last stretch of road up is unpaved.
