On Cape Breton Island a creek comes out through a small arch in an old dry-stone wall and drops over moss-covered rocks into a steep canyon of birches, where two more creeks join it before the whole thing vanishes into a culvert. It sits right beside the road — no hike — and the advice is to go in the rain, when there is more water and the mood improves. Walking the canyon rim is easy; going down for the better photograph is steep and muddy.
