The NTS Guide to Jazz in Murakami Novels

Murakami ran a jazz bar before he wrote novels, and the records never left the books — a character puts something on, and the prose stops to listen to it. NTS collected them into one mix of two hours and seventeen minutes, and set the passage from Kafka on the Shore at the top, where Coltrane’s soprano runs out of steam and McCoy Tyner’s piano “ever so slowly breaks apart the real, rearranging the pieces”. There is a companion mix for the classical.
