Yerevan’s National Gallery holds more than 42,000 works across eight floors, a scale that outstrips its reputation. Ivan Aivazovsky alone has more than sixty seascapes here, but the European wing holds the real surprise: a Marc Chagall canvas, two paintings by Kandinsky, and a Madonna and Child credited to the studio of Donatello — not a hand you’d expect to find in the South Caucasus.
