Borgo San Giuliano, a former fishermen’s quarter of Rimini, Italy, started filling its walls with murals in 1979 as residents fought off plans to demolish the neighborhood. Federico Fellini was born in Rimini and died in 1994, the same year the quarter’s mural festival was dedicated entirely to him. The borgo remains a permanent open-air tribute to his films’ characters.
