Artist Olayami Dabls began the MBAD African Bead Museum in 1994, and it now fills a whole Detroit block with mosaic murals, a bead gallery and shop, and a 150-foot African Language Wall. Iron Teaching Rocks, one of its installations, is built from rebar, school desks, mirrors and found objects. Walk the grounds at your own pace or join a staff-guided tour.
