Bob Knetzger designed toys at Mattel and then spent thirty-five years inventing them independently, and this is the best of nine years of his Make columns: a marble maze, a talking booby trap, custom cookie cutters, an “EZ Make” oven. The methods are the old ones — vacuum forming, mould-making, simple electronics — which is why the results hold up next to anything from a big-box shelf.
