Lewis Prosser calls himself an “absurdist basket-maker,” and Making Merrie is the proof: full-body costumes woven from willow using traditional regional basketry, worn into unrehearsed street performances drawn from mummers’-play traditions along the Wales-England border. Performers speak a garbled invented dialect blending Welsh and English while improvising through the crowd. The costumes now belong to Teignmouth’s Folk Preservation Society, which still performs with them.
