Open since 1972 in Kyoto’s Sanjo district, Karafuneya Coffee displays all 150 of its parfait and sundae flavors as a wall of plastic food samples. The largest are built to serve 20 to 25 people, piled with whole pineapples and dozens of ice cream cones, and beside the fruit flavors sit “funny” parfaits topped with takoyaki, fried chicken, or French fries.
