Intschi-Reuss Bridge

A footpath slung between the girders of a Swiss railway viaduct

Intschi-Reuss Bridge

The bridge over the Reuss at Gurtnellen carries trains, and there is almost nothing on either side of it worth connecting. But a few people live on the wrong side, so a path was hung underneath — threaded between the two concrete boxes the trains ride on, floored with wooden boards laid over metal grating, with the canyon and the river directly beneath your feet. There is a light switch at each end so you can turn the tunnel on before you commit.
