Jerry Hubbell learned to weld to fix farm equipment, then spent decades turning the leftover scrap into a roadside menagerie on Highway 99 in Howard, Kansas: a purple dinosaur, a Batman astride a motorcycle, a stagecoach welded around a Model A frame he winched out of a friend’s field. Hubbell died in 2021, but the land’s current tenant keeps the sculptures standing and the lot open around the clock.
