Stewart Brand's six-part series, scored by Brian Eno, free to watch

How Buildings Learn

Architecture documentaries almost always stop at the ribbon-cutting. Brand’s premise is that the interesting part starts afterwards: what occupants knock through, patch, extend and quietly ignore over decades, and which buildings tolerate that gracefully. All six BBC parts are up, and Brian Eno wrote the score — the same Brand who made the Whole Earth Catalog and campaigned to get NASA to release the whole-Earth photograph.
