House of Egyptian Architecture

An eighteenth-century Cairo house, once home to the city's artists, now a museum of its own building tradition

House of Egyptian Architecture

Ali Labib House, down Darb al-Labana lane, is one of the best-preserved examples of eighteenth-century domestic architecture in Cairo. It was known as the House of Artists, with artists such as Ragheb Ayyad and Shadi Abd al-Salam living there. After years of neglect it was restored around the millennium and now holds the House of Egyptian Architecture. Open daily 9am to 5pm; foreign adults pay EGP 100.
