Matteo Thun added 24 suites and a 550-square-metre wellness complex to a 150-year-old family hotel in Trafoi, inside Stelvio National Park at the foot of the Ortler massif — years of permitting required to protect the landscape. The new wing is clad in Swiss pine, fir, and oak around a ‘nest’ concept, with a 5,000-square-metre outdoor wellness terrain and an infinity pool cantilevered over the Trafoi Canyon.
