Harriet Tubman lived in Auburn, New York for over 50 years, from 1859 until her death in 1913, and the National Historical Park here preserves the ground she actually stood on: her clapboard home, the Home for the Aged she founded next door, and Thompson Memorial AME Zion Church, where she worshipped for two decades and where her funeral was held. Her Fort Hill Cemetery headstone still reads simply Harriet Tubman Davis.
