David Flack's design coup on a triangular Melbourne block

Hannah St Hotel

The site itself is the brief — a triangular block most architects would have built a square hotel onto and ignored two of the corners. Flack instead designed rooms around the geometry, with sharp wedge-shaped suites at the points and a courtyard-pierced ground floor. The lobby leans hard into mid-century Italian, the rooftop into 1970s Melbourne — and it works without looking like a moodboard.
