Built around 1855, possibly to echo the octagonal courthouse of a town originally laid out as a circle. There are no hallways: a free-standing spiral staircase stands at the center and the wedge-shaped rooms open directly into one another, which was the whole argument for the style — no corridor, more light, better airflow. Facing demolition in the 2000s, neighbours formed a nonprofit and moved the house down the road. National Register, 2021.
