Grace Cathedral in 3D

Fly through the stained glass of a San Francisco cathedral in a browser tab

Gaussian splatting is unusually good at the two things photographs of cathedrals always lose — reflections and coloured glass — and this capture spends all of it on Grace Cathedral’s windows. Interior and exterior are stitched into a single model you can fly through in a browser tab, phone included. The build took long enough that the cathedral finished an entirely new section of ceiling between shoots, which the author then had to hand-mask into agreement.
