Garden of Eden Swimming Hole

A 10-minute hike off Route 9 to a wide sandy beach in the Henry Cowell Redwoods

Garden of Eden Swimming Hole

Garden of Eden is the kind of swimming hole the locals drive past on their way home from work and the rest of us would never find. Pull off Route 9 in Henry Cowell Redwoods near Felton, take a steep ten-to-fifteen-minute trail down, and you’re at a wide sandy beach on the San Lorenzo River with clear water and rock formations the right height for jumping in. Best on a weekday in late spring through early autumn — weekends bring a crowd.
