Garden of Eden is the kind of swimming hole the locals drive past on their way home from work and the rest of us would never find. Pull off Route 9 in Henry Cowell Redwoods near Felton, take a steep ten-to-fifteen-minute trail down, and you’re at a wide sandy beach on the San Lorenzo River with clear water and rock formations the right height for jumping in. Best on a weekday in late spring through early autumn — weekends bring a crowd.
