Use Finder's seven colors as exactly seven categories — no more

Finder Tags as Categories

Howard Oakley’s small but useful insight: macOS only gives you seven Finder tag colors, so don’t try to build a multi-dimensional ontology. Pair each color one-to-one with a label (“travel”, “social”, “tax”), and treat that as your fixed taxonomy. Anything beyond seven becomes confusion fast — the constraint is the feature.
