An island of small animals — one of them a Felix the Cat clone — is attacked from the air by squadrons of Mickey Mouse riding bats, with crocodiles and snakes standing in for machine guns. The islanders open their storybooks and Momotaro, Kintaro, Issun-boshi and the warrior monk Benkei climb out to deal with him. Komatsuzawa Hajime made it in 1934 and set it in 1936, the year a US–Japan naval treaty was due to lapse; the whole film is on YouTube.
