The Starship Enterprise of Vulcan, Alberta

A prairie town that leaned all the way into sharing its name with Spock's planet

The Starship Enterprise of Vulcan, Alberta

The town of Vulcan, Alberta leaned all the way into its coincidental name: a full-size replica of the Starship Enterprise, dubbed the FX6-1995-A after the local airport’s own call sign CFX6, stands on a pedestal inscribed with Klingon and Vulcan lettering. Leonard Nimoy visited in 2010 and left a handprint at the town’s Spock bust, and the annual VulCON convention has run since 1993.
