Jared Owen built the machine in 3D and then follows the current: press a key and watch the signal run through the plugboard, three rotors, the reflector, and back out along a different path to light a lamp. Why Enigma was hard becomes visible rather than asserted — the rotors step after every single letter, so one key never means the same thing twice.
