Night Shift and Redshift work by draining blue after sunset, which quietly collapses the distance between colours in an ordinary palette — your blue and your green become the same evening grey, right when you are least likely to notice. Ember picks its swatches so they stay apart once the filter is on, in three sets: terminal, categorical, and sequential. An obvious problem the moment someone names it, which is the mark of a good small tool.
