One ink drawing from a US design patent, every day

DesignPatentDaily

One ink drawing a day from the US design-patent files: the crisp line diagrams, hatched by hand, in which a chair, a bottle or a toaster was first claimed. The account shares its title with Patented: 1,000 Design Patents, Thomas Rinaldi’s 2021 Phaidon book, which chose its thousand from more than 750,000 filed since 1900 — Saarinen and Eames beside anonymous tape dispensers. Kevin Kelly’s verdict: print and frame; much prettier than most modern art.
