Damascus steel gets its organic swirl from folding layers of metal over and over. Jacob Barfield does the same thing with glass — heating layers of blue and white, folding the molten mass back onto itself, then grinding the blade flat on a sanding wheel to reveal what the folds made. The handle and pommel are hand-shaped crystal. It will never cut anything, and that is not the point.
