The cabins on Gubbio’s Colle Eletto cableway are open-air cages for two, and you ride standing. They never stop at either station — you step in while the cage moves and jump out at the top — then sway in the wind for six minutes over the town’s rooftops, from 532 to 803 metres, to the Basilica of Sant’Ubaldo on Monte Ingino. It dates from the 1960s; a return costs under €10.
