The original Chef has spent eleven years in Almaty cooking from a single 1881 recipe book. The second address takes that date into the mountains, near the city’s high-altitude skating rink, and hands it to interior designer Alexandra Tsipkun as a brief: 112 square metres shaped like a nineteenth-century country estate, thirty-two seats across sofas and armchairs, an eight-seat communal table that splits, and warm light pooled everywhere.
