For three years Langdon Clay walked Manhattan after dark with a Leica CL, a 40 mm lens and Kodachrome 25, photographing one parked car at a time: a Cadillac limousine beaded with rain outside a laundromat, an Impala under a luncheonette’s Eggs Veal Parmigiana signs. The long exposures under sodium-vapour streetlight make each frame look like a film still, and the storefronts behind the cars are as much the subject as the chrome. Steidl published the series as a book in 2016.
