The Crafsman: Steady Craftin’ builds a full puppet from a cardboard tube and fabric scraps, but the trick worth stealing is the mouth: a rubber band strung inside the tube and hooked to a bent paper clip acts as both hinge and spring, no fasteners needed. Squeeze the clip and the jaw snaps shut; let go and the band pulls it back open. The design started life as artist Troy Picou’s paper-towel-roll puppets.
